Hey there! I´m Bek.

I’m a Registered Nurse, Mother, Business Owner, and Host of Tenderness for Nurses

From hospital corridors to your podcast feed, I’ve walked a path many nurses understand. My journey began in 1988 at Brisbane’s Princess Alexandra Hospital, where I fell in love with nursing’s blend of science and compassion.

Over three decades, I’ve worn many caps – from peri-operative nursing to maternity, fertility, occupational health, and palliative care. Each role taught me something profound about patient care and about ourselves as caregivers.

My passion for helping people look and feel their best led me to cosmetic dermatology fifteen years ago.

This journey continued with my Nurse Practitioner qualification in 2016, allowing me to provide more comprehensive care at my Brisbane clinic, Perfectly Smooth.

Today, much of my practice focuses on supporting women through perimenopause and menopause – a deeply personal mission that combines clinical expertise with genuine understanding.

The “Tenderness for Nurses” podcast grew from conversations I wished someone had with me years ago. It addresses the real challenges we face as healthcare providers – the burnout, the compassion fatigue, the difficulties of balancing care for others with care for ourselves.

My current studies in Drug and Alcohol Management reflect my commitment to supporting fellow healthcare workers through their struggles.

Because I believe this truth: to care well for others, we must first learn to be tender with ourselves.

Brands & Businesses I love…

A Little Bit About Me
Beyond the Nursing Uniform

My Global Family

When I was 16, I lived in Indonesia as an exchange student and fell in love with the culture! I still chat regularly with my Indonesian host family who became my second family.

Finding My Calling

During a trip back to Indonesia, I visited a leprosy colony that touched my heart deeply. That experience truly sparked my passion for helping others in need.

Walking the Talk

I’ve laced up my boots twice for the Oxfam Trailwalker in Brisbane! Those long walks for charity reminded me that with determination, we can make a real difference.

My Healing Journey

I’m a Reiki Master! I love how this practice complements my nursing and allows me to support healing in different ways.

Farm Girl at Heart

Growing up on a farm, I was quite the adventurer! I was riding motorbikes and driving tractors while other kids were still learning to ride bicycles.

School Days

For years 11 and 12, I packed my bags for boarding school in Toowoomba. Those years taught me independence and the value of community that I bring to my nursing every day.
